By Rajesh Saha: A Kolkata Police officer was allegedly assaulted and abused by a few local residents for prosecuting a local biker who was riding without a helmet on Thursday night.
Four people have been arrested in connection with the incident.
The incident happened at 10pm during a joint naka check which was being conducted by Servey park police station and Purbo Jadavpur traffic guard at Ajay Nagar in East Kolkata area.

According to police, an altercation broke out following the prosecution of a biker for not wearing a helmet. The biker who was found riding without a helmet was prosecuted as per the Motor Vehicle Act, following which he allegedly called a few local people and started abusing the cops.
TRAFFIC COP ASSAULTED
According to police sources, at least 15 people gathered at the spot and protested against them for registering a case.
They allegedly abused and pushed one of the on-duty traffic police officers who fell on the road and sustained minor injury. The injured officer, identified as Suman Kalyan Dhak, was sent to a local hospital and discharged after primary treatment.
4 HELD
Four people identified as Balai Das, Panu Kundu, Aditya Saha and Palash Halder have been arrested in connection with the case. They were in an inebriated condition at the time of incident, police said.
