The world on December 18 witnessed not just one of the greatest football world cup finals in history but also one of greatest football matches of all time.

The planet was painted blue and white as the Albiceleste lifted the world cup after 36 years.

The see-saw battle went to the penalties, where Argentina clinched it 4-2.

The big boys were flawless on the night. Messi scored twice and Mbappe scored a hat-trick to win the Golden Boot. Di Maria was also on the scoresheet for Argentina.

But in the end, it was Montiel’s penalty that made the Albiceleste world champions.

As Messi and his boys entered the Argentine folklore with the last kick of the ball, scenes of high jubilation and joy broke out in the streets of Buenos Aires, the capital city of Argentina.

But that’s not the only place where fans of the Albicelese celebrated. It happens in several cities across the world.

Kolkata, the City of Joy, had already shown its support for Argentina since the beginning of the cup. The city streets were painted blue and white with posters of Messi and Maradona on every corner. It’s been a tradition in the City of Joy to support the Albiceleste for decades now.

And on Sunday night, after the final penalty was taken, hundreds of Kolkatans erupted in celebrations on the streets.

On the streets, fans were seen waving the national flag of Argentina and celebrating the country’s win by playing drums and trumpets.

“I don’t have any words to express my feelings right now. We all have been waiting to see this happen for a long time. This was Messi’s last World Cup and we all wanted him to lift the cup, a fan told ANI.

In what may put smiles on the faces of fans across the world, Messi said after the final that he won’t retire from International football and wants to play for Argentina as world champions.

Yes, he is not retiring. Not anytime soon, at least.
