KOLKATA: Police on Sunday night arrested a young security guard, deployed at a private building in New Town, for allegedly assaulting his owner with a blunt object and fleeing with a cash box and a cellphone the woman was carrying on Saturday night.
His employer, Mahua Ghaffar (56) was found in a pool of blood lying inside a medicine shop the family owned at the ground floor of the building on Saturday night. Her husband opened the lock from outside and took her to a private hospital in New Town where she was administered multiple stitches on her head and her condition is stated to be critical.
The husband lodged a police complaint on Sunday against the caretaker Badal Singh, a resident of Burdwan, who was employed at the premises for the last six months.
Dilip Singh, following his arrest was booked under attempt to murder and theft charges. He has allegedly told cops on the face of interrogation that his employers used to force him in a number of other household works but pay less which made him lose his cool and he had attacked the woman.
