Anis death: SIT submits report to Calcutta HC – Times of India

Kolkata News

Kolkata: The Special Investigation Team (SIT), probing the death of student activist Anis Khan, submitted its report in Calcutta High Court on Friday. The HC has asked the state to furnish a copy of the probe report, along with the magistrate’s report, to the opposite party and is likely to hear the matter on Monday.
The SIT has so far arrested a Home Guard jawan and a civic volunteer, who are now in judicial custody. The body of 27-year-old Anis, who died on February 18, was also exhumed for a second post-mortem, which was done at SSKM Hospital. Anis’s father Salam Khan had moved the high court, demanding a CBI probe. Brother Sabbir said on Friday they were unaware of the SIT report and asked why it had failed to arrest the cop who had come to their home that night with a gun.
The SIT has, however, refrained from making any public statements on the status of the probe, saying the matter was sub judice.
