Kolkata News

Kolkata: Calcutta High Court has directed the Bengal government to file an affidavit stating the progress of the CID investigation into the April 10 Sitalkuchi firing in which four persons were killed while the fourth phase of assembly polls were under way.
A division bench of acting Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal and Justice Rajarshi Bharadwaj asked the state to file the affidavit before the next hearing on November 11.
Petitioners Siraj Mir, a local schoolteacher, and Aminuddin Khan had moved the HC on April 13, three days after the incident, urging a judicial inquiry into the firing in Cooch Behar’s Sitalkuchi. The state later ordered a CID investigation into the incident.
