Kolkata News

KOLKATA: The Kolkata Police STF arrested two residents of Assam and recovered fake currency with a face value of Rs 10 lakh from them near the crossing of Dufferin Road and Mayo Road on Monday.
Cops suspect that the two – Abdul Rezzak Khan (40) and Shahar Ali (43), both residents of Barpeta in Assam – may have links with criminals in neighbouring countries.
“We are tracking the source of the seized FICN. Once we get the duo in police custody, we will question them on the routes they had used to transport it,” said an officer. The notes were in the denomination of Rs 500.
This was the biggest FICN seizure in the past six months. As per the NCRB data, Bengal has reported the highest number of FICN cases in the country.
