Limited role to play in case: Delhi Police – Times of India

Kolkata News

Kolkata: After the Bengal government filed a police complaint against Gujarat and Delhi police for entering Banga Bhavan in New Delhi and taking away CCTV footage, a Delhi Police official said the force had a “limited role” to play in the case.
“If there is a complaint, we will act as a facilitator. But this is not a case on which we wish to comment. Neither can I comment on whether a complaint has been received. Queries in this regard need to be directed at Gujarat Police,” he added.
Delhi and Gujarat cops first went to Banga Bhavan on December 29 to arrest Trinamool spokesperson Saket Gokhale, the complaint stated. Some seizures were made, which included CCTV footage and a computer hard disc, but they were not shown in the seizure list, the complaint claimed. They again went on January 14 and tried to damage evidence, it added. CM Mamata Banerjee on Monday accused “Gujarat Police along with Delhi Police of illegally taking away CCTV footage from Banga Bhavan”. She asked chief secretary H K Dwivedi “to ensure that no one enters Banga Bhavan without permission” and “take legal action” if they did.
