By Rajesh Saha: The Special Task Force of Kolkata Police arrested one drug peddler and seized heroin worth Rs 5 crore from him. The accused was nabbed on Friday, a day before New Year’s Eve.
On Friday afternoon, acting on information from a credible source, a team of STF Kolkata Police intercepted one Nadia district-based notorious drug peddler on Sealdah Station road in Entally police station area.

During the search, around 1.016 kgs of high quality heroin were seized in total from his possession. The international grey market value of the seized drug is around Rs 5.08 crores.
The accused has been identified as 26-year-old Prasanta Sarkar, a resident of Nadia. Prasanta Sarkar was arrested on December 30 and prosecuted under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
The arrested accused was produced before the NDPS Court in Kolkata on December 31.
