Kolkata: As the whole country celebrates teachers’ day on Monday, SSC candidates in Kolkata continue to protest with a heavy heart. The SSC candidates, even after passing the school teachers entrance test did not get jobs in schools due to rampant corruption and errant officials. They held posters which stated we are celebrating teachers’ day with heavy hearts and tears in our eyes.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested a top TMC leader regarding the secondary school teacher recruitment scam last month. The ED has also recovered crores of rupees from the apartment of one of his close aide as well.
Mamata Banerjee in a public rally has recently asked the state education minister to look into the matter and make sure jobs are given to the eligible candidates as soon as possible. The candidates have been protesting for months now in Kolkata demanding they should be given the appointment letter. They have also said that they will continue with their protest till the time they receive the appointment letter. They also met the Education Minister Brapta Basu and handed over their deputation to him asking him to look into the matter.
