West Bengal: ED raids business premises and flats of Arpita Mukherjee – Times of India

Kolkata News

KOLKATA: The Enforcement Directorate cracked down on business premises being run by Arpita Mukherjee days after they came across multiple GST numbers and a host of companies in her name.
The agency officials also reached at least two properties in Madurdaha believed to have been purchased by Mukherjee.
Among them was one of her nail art parlours, located at Patuli, found to be inside an apartment where the ward 100 councillor Prasenjit Das has a flat. They had also reached the Lake View Road premise of the nail art parlour. Mukherjee started the nail art business at the Lake View Road premises from 2018.
On Tuesday, they broke open the Lake View Road shop which downed its shutters from last Wednesday.
Another team reached her nail art shop at Baranagar and collected some documents from there after nearly a four-hour long search.
The investigators looking into the details of her earnings have come across a pattern in all of the companies where she was a director. While her companies continued to incur losses, expenses continued to soar high.
While she continued to deny any knowledge of the cash inside her residences, ED officials were surprised to find that she kept on buying properties despite mounting debt in her companies.
“As of now, the ED has not given us any document in support of the raids of their claims. Only time can tell if she was guilty or not,” her lawyer Niladri Bhattacharya said.
