Kolkata: Schools reach out to parents, ask them not to send kids with Covid symptoms – Times of India

KOLKATA: Schools have started reaching out to parents asking them not to send their wards to school in case they have fever, even on days they are supposed to take tests, which will be re-scheduled for the indisposed.
Covid cases are once again on the rise just when schools have resumed physical classes. Many private schools are now conducting either periodic tests or class tests. Parents and students are not ready to miss the tests as they are anxious about the impact on the report card at the end of the session. However, most school authorities are circulating notices to assure them that alternative arrangements will be made but with students running a temperature should not be sent to school.
Schools like Indus Valley World School, Birla High School, Asian International School, Loreto House, St Augustine’s Day School, Shyamnagar have issued notices to assure parents that students will not suffer due to Covid or other seasonal diseases. Don Bosco Park Circus and Birla High School have verbally asked students to be aware of their health and asked parents not to send them to school if they have fever.
After circulating notices, many schools have noticed that a few students are trying to hide their fever by taking paracetamol. Indus Valley World School and Birla High School are conducting periodic tests and at least 4-5 students have been sent back as they were unwell. Indus Valley World School director Amita Prasad said, “We made an appeal to the parents that if a child runs a temperature or displays Covid-like symptoms, they shouldn’t send them to school.” But even after this message was sent out, 4-5 students with fever had to be sent back.
Birla High School, too, is holding tests. Principal Lovleen Saigal said, “Class teachers are sending messages to the parents not to send children if they are have temperature or cough and cold. Health is the priority and it’s just a unit test that we are repeatedly telling them.”
South City International School has made an appeal to the students and parents by circulating a notice to maintain all Covid protocols. Lakshmipat Singhania Academy has issued a fresh notice on Friday regarding Covid norms.
