Calcutta HC takes away job of West Bengal minister daughter, seeks return of salary – Times of India

Kolkata News

KOLKATA: The CBI on Friday questioned Bengal junior education minister Paresh Adhikary for 10 hours in relation to an alleged irregularity in a school teaching-post appointment in favour of his daughter Ankita, even as the Calcutta HC debarred the latter from stepping inside the school, ordered her post declared “vacant” and asked her to return the last 41 months’ salary.
Accused under the Prevention of Corruption Act, the agency quizzed Adhikary about whether he had used his position to secure a job for his daughter.
Petitioner Babita Sarkar had alleged that she was deprived of a job as the name of Ankita (who had fewer marks than her in the qualifying exam and subsequent evaluation) had been wrongfully included in the list, soon after Paresh joined TMC in 2018. This had deprived Sarkar of a job that should rightfully have been hers.
