KOLKATA: A major accident took place on the Maa flyover on Sunday night when two app cabs and a hired SUV crashed into one another close to Science City. Two persons sustained serious eye injuries in the accident that occurred around 11.30pm . One of them will have to undergo an operation. Cops said the cabs were speeding beyond limits and this led to the accident.
Cops said that an app cab, which was hit by another cab, had rammed into the SUV.
The driver of one of the app cabs, Pradyut Nandan (36), sustained right eye injury while his passenger Surendra Sharma (39) was injured in his right eyebrow and left elbow. Both of them were taken to CNMC hospital. All the three cars have been seized,” said an officer.
Meanwhile, cops have decided to use the CCTV footage and speed cameras to generate challans for the violation of traffic rules on the flyover and penalize the motorists till the Artificial Intelligence software is installed.
