A woman reported to be missing in West Bengal for over a decade was reunited with her family with the help of Kolkata Police. Annapurna Pal, who had gone missing in 2010, was found by Kolkata Police in 2022.

On January 31, the police received information about an ailing woman lying in front of Ramgarh Colony in Netaji Nagar area of Kolkata. A team of cops including lady police officers arrived at the spot and rescued the woman.

Initially, Pal could not give any personal information as she appeared to be of unsound mind, as per Kolkata Police. She was provided with primary medical care at Baghajatin SG Hospital. The woman was offered food and proper clothes.

The police learned that her name was Annapurna and that she was a resident of Gaighata, North 25 Parganas. The officers contacted the police station concerned and obtained her son Dipankar Pal’s mobile number.

She was reunited with her family, who travelled to Kolkata to meet her.

It turned out that the woman had been reported missing in 2010. The family members told the police that she had a history of mental health issues.

She had purportedly left her residence in 2010 to visit her maternal family. However, she went missing on that very day. The family had filed a missing complaint at North 24 Parganas.
