Calcutta HC nixes pleas on Ol Chiki teacher appointments – Times of India

Kolkata News

KOLKATA: The Calcutta High Court on Wednesday dismissed five writ petitions claiming that appointments of Ol Chiki teachers in state-run schools were not based on merit.
Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay dismissed all the pleas after hearing the submission of the School Service Commission secretary on the matter.
There were some disorderly scenes when SSC counsel Chapalesh Banerjee got into an altercation with Justice Gangopadhyay, prompting the judge to call the sheriff to escort him out of the courtroom. Banerjee, however, left before men from the sheriff’s office arrived.
