Kolkata: Online No Objection Certificate for inter-state registration of cars – Times of India

Kolkata News

KOLKATA: The Kolkata Traffic Police on Tuesday launched the online No Objection Certificate (e-NOC) service that will allow all those requiring NOC for either their lost vehicle registration certificates and driving licences or for registration of vehicle from another state or migration of vehicle to another state to get the document at the click of a mouse.
All that motorists will now need to do is to visit the Kolkata Traffic Police website, submit the scanned documents, generate an OTP and take a printout of the e-NOC that will come armed with QR code and watermark logo. This will not only save time of motorists who otherwise need to stand in queues but also stop repeated visits to Lalbazar for missing out any document. The e-NOC service will operate 24 hours a day. The over-the-counter applications will continue to be processed physically at Lalbazar. At present, this NOC is issued from Lalbazar traffic counter.
“There online system will save time, energy and money. Applicants will also get a list of pending cases should the application gets rejected due to it,” said Joint CP (Traffic) Santosh Pandey.
According to police, the first step after going to the website will be to enter the last five characters of the vehicle chassis number for registration certificate or driving licence number for driver’s licence verification. After the motorist’s mobile number is fed into the system, an OTP will be generated. A pop-up will then show if the motorist is eligible for e-NOC. In the final step, the e-NOC will be generated in a printable PDF format. If there are pending cases and e-NOC is not generated, a full list of pending cases will be displayed on the screen.
The move is being seen as Kolkata Traffic Police’s drive to stop direct human interface, to modernize and save time. “With e-challan rollout just a matter of time, these steps will help us document details quickly,” said an officer at Lalbazar.
