Senior executive, driver found dead in south Kolkata building – India Today

A 61-year-old senior executive of a private sector company was found dead in a pool of blood in south Kolkata’s Gariahat area on Sunday. His driver, Rabin Mondal, too, was found dead in the same building but on a different floor.

The senior executive, Subir Chaki, was the managing director of Kilburn Engineering Ltd., a private sector company. The incident took place in Gariahat’s Kankulia Road. An initial probe revealed the two were stabbed to death.

A Kolkata Police official said they had received information that two bodies were lying in a pool of blood at 78A Kankulia Road. Cops from a local police station rushed to the spot and found that one body was in a room on the first floor while the other was on the second floor.

The bodies had sharp injury marks on the neck, wrists and legs. The two have been identified as Subir Chaki and Rabin Mondal.

Cops said the property was owned by Subir but no one used to stay there. Sources mentioned that Chaki wanted to sell the property and was in touch with several buyers.

On Sunday evening, Chaki, along with his driver, visited the address, and might have called some prospective buyer to show him the property.

However, when he did not return to his New Town home, his family members started contacting him over the phone. Later, when they found that his phone was off, they called neighbours and informed the police.
