56-year-old Kolkata chaiwala serves tea with melodious Kishore Kumar songs – Times of India

As we always say, social media offers effective tools that can help the world know your unique talent. The latest addition to the list of unique talents is Paltan Nag, a 56-year-old chaiwala who runs a humble roadside tea stall in Kolkata’s Beniatola lane.

What makes him unique? In Kolkata, he is known for selling tea with melodious Kishore Kumar songs. In a recent video doing rounds on social media, he is seen singing the Kishore Kumar classic ‘Main shayaar badnaam’ from the 1973 blockbuster ‘Namak Haraam’.

As per reports, his video went viral after it was shared on social media and also was circulated on WhatsApp. Take a look at his video:

In a video interview with ANI, he said, “I have followed Kishore Kumar since I was 10 years old. I practiced his songs on Karaoke. He is my idol.”

Paltan always wanted to be a singer, but due to his father’s death and financial crisis, he could not pursue his dream. As per reports, during the late 70s, Paltan used to perform at many local cultural functions, and later he started getting many stage shows.

In a statement, he informed Times Now that he has around 350 odd karaoke tracks of Kishore Kumar that he plays along on his microphone every now and then..

As soon as the video went viral, netizens started pouring in appreciation and compliments for his unique style of selling tea.
