Nandigram case assigned to new Calcutta HC judge – Times of India

Kolkata News

KOLKATA: Calcutta high court judge Shampa Sarkar will hear Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee’s petition challenging the Nandigram assembly poll result.
The CM has urged for a court-monitored recount of votes, challenging BJP candidate Suvendu Adhikari’s win by a narrow margin. Acting Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal assigned Justice Sarkar to hear the matter after Justice Kausik Chanda recused himself from hearing the petition. Banerjee had alleged that Justice Chanda’s long association as lawyer with the BJP legal cell posed an “apprehension of bias”.
