37 people arrested from Kolkata 5-star hotel for partying, violating Covid rules – India Today

The Kolkata Police has raided The Park – a five-star hotel in the city, and arrested as many as 37 people for partying and violating Covid-19 restrictions imposed by the government to curtail the further spread of the infection.

The accused were caught from the second and the third floors of the hotel for partying in violation of Covid-19 restrictions.

The raid was conducted at 1:15 am on Sunday.

According to the police, some of the accused allegedly manhandled officials.

Two cars were seized during the raid. Police also recovered marijuana, liquor bottles, two sets of guest lists among other items during the raid.

A case has been lodged under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Disaster Management Act in the matter.

The West Bengal government extended the statewide Covid restrictions till July 15.

According to the rules, movement of individuals and outdoor activities continue to remain prohibited between 9 pm and 5 am. No movement will be permitted during this time, with the exception of essential services.
