Salons, parlours make vax proof mandatory in Kolkata – Times of India

KOLKATA: Salons and beauty parlour owners held virtual meetings with their employees to draw up plans for the reopening on July 1. According to the revised protocols, only those who have been vaccinated will be allowed into salons. People have to make a pre-booking and either the doorman or an employee at the salon will check the vaccination certificates on clients’ mobiles before allowing them entry. The staff have been told to get the vaccine jabs before joining work.
Salons said that walk-ins will not be allowed for the moment since the occupancy has to be 50% and appointments will have to be taken accordingly. Sanitisation of the spaces will be done and the use of disposable cloth that was in practice since last year will be maintained. Messages will be sent out to clients where vaccination clause will be included.
“Our clients should feel safe with us and we should feel safe with them,” said Amrita Chakraborty, spokesperson for A N John, a salon chain with five outlets in the city. The chain will include the vaccination clause in the messages that will be sent out to clients from Tuesday. “They just need to show us the certificate on their mobile and confirm the name from some other photo identity card,” she explained.
Tony & Guy, a salon with eight outlets in the city is also preparing to send out message blasts to its clients. “We will immediately start out with the sanitisation. Our employees are all vaccinated. We were literally getting distress calls from our clients and will now be welcoming them back,” said Ananya Goswami, owner of the outlet at a mall in Newtown.
The six Eye Catchers outlets have started calling clients too. Proprietor Vinay Rungta said, “It will be easier to re-start this time because last time we did the dress rehearsal. We will continue with all our hygiene practices from last year. All our guests need to be vaccinated and we will start taking appointments,” he said.
Vineeta Agrawal, an investment consultant has already called in to book an appointment. “Finally my hair will get the healing touch it required and that long awaited manicure and pedicure…my salon is an integral part of my life,” she said. Some people like Manoj Gupta, a businessman said, “I grew my hair and I would chop my son’s hair. Finally there is light at the end of the tunnel.” Many people would call in hairdressers from Urban Clap. Many had bought trimmers to help themselves but they are all relieved now that the salons are finally reopening.
