Waterlogging in parts of Kolkata as heavy rain lashes city | Photos and videos – India Today

Heavy waterlogging was witnessed in several parts of Kolkata, West Bengal, after the city received heavy rainfall on Wednesday night. The cyclonic circulation over West Bengal and Bangladesh resulted in heavy downpour, which further led to waterlogging on streets in parts of the city.

Here are some pictures and videos that show people wading through the clogged streets of Kolkata on Thursday.

Rainfall is likely to continue on Thursday as well. Moderate showers with one or two spells of heavy rainfall might occur over some parts of Kolkata and adjoining areas.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) says, “Thunderstorm with lightning and light to moderate rainfall likely to continue over some parts of Birbhum, Murshidabad, Nadia, East and West Burdwan, North 24 Parganas , South 24 Parganas , East and West Medinipur, Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly, Purulia and Bankura districts of West Bengal during next two-three hours today — June 17, 2021.”
