Kolkata: Man stabbed to death by cousin after altercation over undivided ancestral property – Times Now

Kolkata: A 24-year-old man was allegedly killed by his cousin over a property dispute Kolkata in West Bengal. The accused, after the crime, fled the spot, but surrendered before the police later, as per reports.

How it happened 

The incident took place at Sulanguri area of New Town on Tuesday. According to the police, a heated argument flared up between the now-deceased man, identified as Sadhan Ghosh, and his cousin Mangal Ghosh over an undivided ancestral property.

During the course of the argument, Mangal, in a fit of rage, stabbed Sadhan with a knife multiple times in the presence of his family members outside their house. He then pushed him in a bush and fled from the spot.  

The family members rushed Sadhan to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead. Meanwhile, Mangal went to the Eco Park police station and turned himself in to the cops there, according to a report by The Times of India.

Accused’s father, sister detained by police

Mangal’s sister Madhumita and father Dilip have also been detained by the police. The two were also involved in the argument with Sadhan. They had allegedly provoked Mangal to attack Sadhan.

The weapon used in the crime has been recovered, a police officer said, adding that the victim’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination.

Another incident

Meanwhile, The body of a nine-year-old girl, who had gone missing on Wednesday evening, was recovered on Thursday from the staircase of a residential building in Jorabagan area of Kolkata. Police suspect that she was sexually abused and then murdered.

Preliminary inquiry suggests that the girl was sexually abused, beaten, strangled before her throat was slit by unidentified person(s), a senior police official said, adding that an investigation into the case is underway.
