Kolkata: Suspects slit 73-year-old man’s throat with knife, smash head with pressure cooker – Times Now

Kolkata: A 73-year-old man was allegedly murdered at his residence in Kolkata by unidentified persons on Friday. The post-mortem report of the man revealed that his throat was slit open with a knife and his head was smashed with a pressure cooker. 

The brutal murder took place at the elderly man’s flat on Phears Lane, Bowbazar of Kolkata. The two objects used for the murder were recovered from the man’s house. 

Man’s flat door locked from outside

The man was identified as Ayub Fida Ali Agha. The 73-year-old man, who owns a hardware store, was allegedly murdered by a person who had access to his flat. The incident came to light when the man’s daughter-in-law noticed that the flat door had been locked from the outside. 

Cash worth Rs 2 lakh along with jewellery missing 

Agha used to reside in the flat with his daughter Tehera Ayub Agha. On the day of the incident, Tehera left home for work at around 10 am. Ayub’s daughter-in-law, Fatima Zulfikar Agha, who lives in another flat nearby, alleged that when she came to the flat, she opened the latch from the outside and saw the elderly man’s body, The Times of India reported. The woman further alleged that the house appeared to be ransacked and cash worth Rs 2 lakh along with some jewellery was missing. 

An officer privy to the case said, “The fact that no one heard anything unusual suggests the victim did not raise any alarm. It seems the assailant was known to the accused.” Further probe is underway. No arrest has been made so far.
