KOLKATA: Probing into the “alleged kidnapping” of a 17-year-old student in Narkeldanga on Wednesday, cops have found that the girl herself had planned it with the help of a male friend.
“The girl was unhappy with her parents after they had an argument and had left home in a huff. We are not proceeding against her and will take a decision about her friend. However, we would advise psychiatric counselling,” said an officer.
The family had earlier registered a police complaint, alleging that they had received a ransom call of Rs 25 lakh. The teenager did not return from her tuition class on Wednesday, prompting her parents to raise the alarm. The family contacted her friends and later learned that she had never reached the tuition class. The family received the phone call a few hours after her disappearance.
