Fire breaks out at residential building in Kolkata, 2 dead – India Today

Two people, including a 12-year-old boy, died after a fire broke out in an old residential building at Ganesh Chandra Avenue in Kolkata, West Bengal on Friday night.

State fire services minister Sujit Bose, who rushed to the spot, told media persons that all the residents have been rescued.

While all residents of the building were evacuated using hydraulic ladders, the minor boy fell down from the ledge of the building. He was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, doctors said.

The body of another victim, a woman, 50, has been reportedly recovered from the bathroom of her apartment, sources said.

Soon after the incident, 10 fire tenders rushed to the spot and doused the fire.

Officials are probing the source of the fire.
