HOWRAH: A youth slashed at a Class-IX girl with a blade in front of her school in Howrah’s Bauria on Monday.
Police said the 13-year-old girl was going to school to get new stationery when a youth confronted her and attacked her. She ran inside the school. Though teachers and guardians rushed out, the youth had reportedly fled. The girl was taken to a local hospital, where she was treated and handed over to her family. The girl’s family claimed that they did not feel quite safe in sending her to school after the incident.
Several students and guardians also alleged harassment by youths outside the school.
A teacher of the school pointed out students’ safety were at stake. “We want the police to take proper measures,” the teacher said.
