‘Min temp to hover around 16°C till Jan 5’ – Times of India

Kolkata News

Kolkata: A combination of clouds and fog coming from Bihar made mercury slide down by a degree in Kolkata on Monday. The cloud cover and fog floated into south Bengal and Jharkhand, due to which the cityand its surroundings fell under a grey cover. With sunlight being blocked, the maximum temperature dropped to 24 degrees Celsius. The minimum clocked 16.3.
The weather will remain unchanged for the next four days till mercury drops further under the influence of the northwesterly, said weathermen. “Due to cloud cover, the minimum will hover around 15-16 degrees till at least January 5 when the northwesterly is expected to gain intensity. Meanwhile, it remains weak and has not been carrying in chill from north India. Once it starts flowing in with intensity, the mercury will drop,” said Regional Meteorological Centre director GK Das.
Das said that even though the northwesterly is weak, the cloud cover has turned the wind cool, raising the chill factor in temperatures.
