Sunil Gavaskar is known to be quite the avid football fan in addition to being one of the greatest cricketers of all. Recently, he travelled to the FIFA World Cup final in the Lusail stadium in Qatar where he happened to bump into one of the greatest football managers of all time, Arsene Wenger, who guided Arsenal to 3 Premier League titles in his 22-year-stint as the Gunners Boss.
In an Instagram post, Gavaskar mentioned that he was thrilled to meet Arsene Wenger and even shared a photo wit the legend on the photo sharing platform. In the post-match discussion show on the Sony Sports Network after the 1st day’s play of the 2nd Test between India and Bangladesh, the Indian batting legend was having a chat about this picture and the fact that he is an admirer of Arsenal because of Thierry Henry.
Gavaskar also revealed that he also managed to get a signed jersey of the Arsenal and France legend, but that is not with him but with Sourav Ganguly. It was then that he looked into the camera and issued a hilarious threat to the former India captain to return his jersey to him when he will come to Kolkata for the 2nd ODI vs Sri Lanka on January 12, 2023.
“And Sourav Ganguly, hello! Where is that shirt? I am coming to Kolkata for the game on the 12th. Sourav Ganguly you better, I dont want any excuses. You’re no longer the president. You have little more time on your hands. Find that shir henry signed for me and give it to me on the 12th,” Gavaskar said in his usual funny manner.

In the same conversation he also revealed that he banters with his son Rohan, who is an ardent Manchester United fan about the fact that he is an Arsenal fan. “I used to tease my son, who is a Manchester United fan, that I am an Arsenal fan. He would then say, ‘Give four names’, and I would say ‘Thierry, Henry, Dennis and Bergkamp’.”
