Kolkata: A dash of winter chill is set to descend on the city this weekend, with minimum temperature set to drop below 15 degrees Celsius for the first time this season. Kolkata recorded a minimum temperature of 16.7 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.
“The minimum temperature in Kolkata may drop by two degrees and settle at 14-15 degrees this Friday or Saturday,” said Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) director G K Das. “Heavy snowfall in the northern Himalayas has brought mercury below freezing point there, and an impact will be felt across north India.”
“Srinagar recorded -3 degrees. Temperature is set to plunge two to four degrees across north Indian plains. In Kolkata, the minimum temperature should be below 15 degrees and maximum temperature around 28°,” said Das.
