Kolkata: Due to the impact of Cyclone Sitrang, Kolkata will continue to receive some more rains in the coming hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said. However, the situation is unlikely to turn grim as the cyclone has moved towards Bangladesh and weakened into a depression.

Kolkata is expected to remain under cloud cover with spells of light rain for a few more hours, the Met officials said. “The worst has passed over Kolkata and the city is not expected to be impacted much more, apart from some rain,” a senior IMD official in Kolkata said. The maximum and minimum temperatures on Tuesday are likely to be around 29 degree Celcius and 21 degree Celcius, respectively.

Earlier the weather officials predicted that moderate to heavy rains and wind gusts up to 45-60 kmph very are likely to hit the city on Monday and Tuesday, dampening the Diwali and Kali Puja festivities. However, there was no heavy downpour or waterlogging.
