The BJP on Thursday alleged that the drug haul at Kolkata airport is linked to the Trinamool Congress. The saffron party claimed that the owner of a firm, who was allegedly involved in the drug trade, has connections to the TMC.
Six days ago, Gujarat’s Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) in a joint operation with Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) had seized around 40 kg of heroin worth Rs 200 crore from a container loaded in Kolkata port.
Gujarat ATS & DRI Ahmedabad zonal unit seized 39.565 kg of heroin, worth Rs 197.825 cr, from Kolkata’s Century Freight Station from a container that was lying there for 6-7 months. Out of 36 gearboxes, 12 had 72 packets of heroin hidden. DRI is further investigating the matter. pic.twitter.com/w4BPUbngZ0

The consignee, Shariful’s home in Sandeshkhali, was raided by the DRI after the drug haul, the BJP said, adding that they have audio and document evidence with them.
Bengal BJP chief Sukanta Majumdar, addressing a press conference, expressed concern that Shariful would be shifted to Bangladesh to escape the probe.
