There is nothing like getting paid for doing what you love. Imagine getting a handsome remuneration just for sleeping on your job. Confused? Well, Kolkata’s 26-year-old Triparna Chakraborty found the enviable dream job where she won a whopping Rs 5 lakh for her impeccable sleeping skills on August 24.

Chakraborty had applied for an internship programme for Wakefit.co, which is a D2C sleep solution. She slept uninterruptedly for 9 hours for 100 consecutive days to win the title. A resident of Howrah, Triparna won the live sleep-off, beating four of her contemporaries in the finale.

“For me, it was about the right person at the right place and at the right time,” gleeful Triparna told India Today exclusively. She added, “I was elated to have been one among the 5.5 lakh applicants.”

Crowned ‘The First Sleep Champion of India,’ Triparna emphasized the necessity of sleep in everyone who works hard in life. “Whilst money is an exciting perk of the job, it is mandatory to realize that a good 8-hour sleep is a significant part of life for peace of mind and success.” She added, “In addition to hard work, sleep ensures efficiency.”

Triparna’s sleep efficiency score was 95 per cent, proving that her most enjoyable time is when she is asleep, Wakefit.co wrote in their Instagram post. To determine their sleep efficiency score, the contestants were monitored on parameters like sleep duration, awake time, light sleep, and deep sleep. Other finalists were also handed a stipend of Rs 1 lakh each.

SLEEP CHAMPIONSHIP

Wakefit announced its winner for ‘Sleep Internship Season 2 Batch of 2021’ on August 24. In its first season, the competition garnered some 1.7 lakh applicants. The programme spanning 100 days is aimed at spreading awareness on quality sleep. Wakefit has begun accepting applications for Season 3, where a winner will get paid 10 lakh for sleeping soundly for 9 hours every night for 100 nights.

“You win or lose, but you will definitely learn the importance of quality sleep in these 100 days’ process. It will also improve your sleep quality on having learned the right kind of skills to sleep soundly,” Triparna said. She also briefly shared her pre-sleep routine with her followers where she listed minimal practices one can imbibe in their lives for a healthy good night’s sleep.
