Kolkata has maintained its position three times in the last four years, in 2018, 2020, and 2021, according to the release of this year’s statistics. 2019 was an exception, according to NCRB, who claimed not to have received the state’s statistics.

The city also accomplished something that few other cities were able to do in 2021: the IPC crime rate decreased from 109.9 to 92.6. This decline is cumulative. In 2018, 141.2 in 2017, and 159.6 in 2016, the score was 139.5.
