KOLKATA: A class IV girl was allegedly molested by a 55-year-old neighbour inside her flat at Hatiara in New Town on Sunday evening while her parents were away at work and she was home alone.
The mother complained that the child fondly used to address the man as ‘dadu’ who often used to hand her toffees when she visited his stationary shop in the same neighborhood.
He was booked under sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and was arrested from his home following the complaint at Eco Park police station.
“She was alone at home when the man knocked at the door and as she opened, he sexually assaulted her by touching her private parts. She screamed for help and the man ran away. Later my daughter approached another neighbour who live on the floor below and she called me and apprised me about the incident. My child is still in a state of shock and has been left traumatized,” said the 10-year-old girl’s mother.
