Given that the Durga Puja has been added to the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization’s (UNESCO) “Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) of Humanity,” the West Bengal Chief Minister has already declared that Puja will be celebrated in a grand manner this year.

The money that is generated during Durga Puja through the creative industry contributes roughly 2.53 percent of the state’s GDP, according to a report that surfaced in February of last year. In the regions that fall under the purview of the West Bengal Police and Kolkata Police, respectively, about 34,000 and 2,500 Durga Pujas are organised. At the same time, women-led committees organise more than 1,700 Pujas.
