Calcutta University waives admission fee across campuses – Times of India

KOLKATA: Calcutta University has waived fee “corresponding to application for admission” in the UG and PG courses offered on the various campuses of the university across the city for the year 2022-23. The waiver is only for courses provided by the university on its various campuses and does not apply to colleges affiliated to it.
Only the admission fee has been waived and students taking admission in UG and PG courses will have to pay the semester as well as the other fees. According to university authorities, the decision has been taken to decrease the financial burden on students and their parents.

“There will be no admission fee corresponding to applications for admission in the post-graduate and undergraduate courses of University of Calcutta for the year 2022-23. This will help reduce the financial burden on students to some extent. It is only for students enrolling for the year 2022-23,” said a university official.
In the two years of pandemic, the education department had waived application fees for UG and PG courses in colleges and universities across the city. Almost all government and government-aided colleges had reduced their admission and semester fees to reduce the financial burden on the students.
Some colleges and universities even provided mobile phones to underprivileged students for online classes. A few colleges waived all charges for students who lost one or both parents to the pandemic.
This year, none of the government and government-aided colleges have increased fees and are not charging any application fee. A few private colleges, though, have decided to collect application fee from those applying for undergraduate courses.
