Calcutta HC summons report from CBI in primary teachers’ recruitment scam case – India Today

Kolkata News

A division bench of Calcutta High Court has sought the progress report from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the primary teachers’ recruitment scam case.

The division bench of Justice Subrata Talukder on Thursday asked the CBI to submit the report by the coming Tuesday.

On Thursday, the judge asked Lawyer Bilbadal Bhattacharya, representing CBI, what they were doing in the probe. The lawyer told the court that the special investigation team (SIT) is probing the alleged irregularities.

The Judge said that the court wants to see the progress report on this case.

Earlier during the hearing, Joydeep Kar, a lawyer for Manik Bhattacharya, the former president of the Board of Primary Education, had said that all the documents that the single bench had asked the board to submit could not be submitted.

Kar then went on to add, “Can the president be removed for this reason? All those documents have been sent to the forensics in an illegal manner. The board may commit some irregularities. But does that mean illegal work? My client, his wife, and even his married daughter has been asked to account for their assets.”
