Calcutta Pavlov Hospital gets new medical superintendent – Times of India

Kolkata News

KOLKATA: The state health department has transferred Ganesh Prasad, medical superintendent of Calcutta Pavlov Hospital to north Bengal. Prasad has been replaced by Mriganka Mouli Kar through a notification that was issued on Thursday. Prasad has been asked to take charge of JD TB Hospital in Cooch Behar. Kar was working as district maternal and child health officer in Howrah.
Prasad has been in the eye of storm after a team from Swasthya Bhawan found the hospital’s lacunae in patient service during an inspection in the first week of June. The team had mentioned in its report several issues, including the pathetic condition, in which the patients were kept, lapses in medical care, lack of security, inferior food served to inmates. Prasad was served a show-cause notice immediately after the inspection.
A team visited the hospital again last Monday, after which Prasad was summoned in Swasthya Bhawan on Tuesday. “We have gone through the loopholes pointed out by the team. We hope to improve the quality of the hospital’s services,” said a health department official.
