2 addl judges appointed to Calcutta HC – Times of India

Kolkata: Calcutta High Court got two additional judges in Shampa Dutt (Paul) and Siddhartha Roy Chowdhury on Tuesday.
Both were senior judicial officers in Bengal.
The new appointments take the number of judges in the HC, which has a sanctioned strength of 72, to 43.
The Centre in a notification said: “In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 224 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint (i) Smt. Shampa Dutt (Paul), to be an Additional Judge of the Calcutta High Court for a period of two years with effect from the date she assumes charge of her office and (ii) Shri Siddhartha Roy Chowdhury, to be an Additional Judge of the Calcutta High Court, with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office, till 27.12.2023.”
