An 18-year-old aspiring model reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan of her room at Bediadanga in Kasba on Sunday.​

KOLKATA: An 18-year-old aspiring model reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan of her room at Bediadanga in Kasba on Sunday.
Saraswati Das was spotted hanging around 2am by her grandmother who brought her down before taking her to the nearest government hospital where she was declared dead.
Cops said Das was sleeping with her grandmother while other family members were away. Around 2am the grandmother found Saraswati not beside her and went to the other room to find her hanging
Family members said Saraswati was living with her mother Arati Das at the place of her maternal uncle for the last 17 years since her father estranged them. “After passing Madhyamik Examination, she left her studies and was engaged in giving tuition and taking up the job of modelling. Reportedly, she was having an affairs and due to some strain in their relationship, had been reeling under a depression in recent times,” an officer of Kolkata police said.
Cops added phone records revealed she was talking with her boyfriend till 1am. Cops have found they had an argument over meeting somewhere on Sunday following which she possibly hung herself. No suicide note was found though and cops are awaiting the posy mortem report for a confirmation on the cause of death.
