Calcutta University Examinations are expected to begin soon. The panel set up for deciding the mode of the examination has recommended upcoming UG, PG Semester examination in offline mode. The final decision, however, has not been taken by the varsity as yet. It is expected to be confirmed and announced June 3, 2022.

Vice-Chancellor of Calcutta University, Sonali Chakrabarty Banerjee told reporters last Friday that the Chairpersons of both undergraduate studies and PG Faculty have both recommended offline examination for the UG, PG students. She has, however, said that the decision would only be taken after consultation with the affiliated college. A meeting with the Principals of affiliated college would be held on May 27.

“A meeting will be held with the Principals of the affiliated colleges on May 27 for their views on the mode of examinations,” she told reporters. The discussions would then be presented to the pandel, who would then make the final decision on June 3. Related | Calcutta University recommends offline exams, students stage protest at campus
Meanwhile, other varsities in West Bengal have already announced offline examination. Jadavpur University and Rabindra Bharati University have announced their decision to conduct examinations in offline more for both UG and PG examinations. Kalyani University, on the other hand, has decided to go ahead with online examination.

Decision to conduct examination in offline mode, however, has not gone down well with students. Many students have staged protests at the campus. Some students have even resorted to gherao. Students demand that since the studies were done in online format, the examination would also be taken in online format.
