Adi Ganga, a living tidal river, turned into a drain again, thanks to the negligence on the part of civic authorities, numerous cowsheds, open defecation on the bank, indiscriminate dumping of wastes, revealed a survey by boat conducted by green crusader Subhas Datta on Thursday. “Earlier, the banks of the river were cleaned up, the cowshed was shifted and open defecation was prohibited. On Thursday, I found it back to square one, with all filth pouring into the river continuously,” said Datta.
