West Bengal govt lifts all Covid-related curbs as cases dip – Times of India

KOLKATA: The West Bengal government on Thursday said that all the curbs related to the Covid-19 pandemic would be lifted from midnight in view of considerably improved situation in the state.
Even the night-time restrictions on movement of people between 12am to 5am have been withdrawn in the state.
The withdrawal of the restrictions came almost two years after the pandemic struck in March 2020.
Dr Sukumar Mukherjee, member of the global health advisory committee, said that with the death toll being zero in the state for the past few days, it was decided to withdraw restrictions.
In a notification, the government, however, stressed on the use of masks and hygiene maintenance.

“Accordingly, it is hereby notified that restrictions as currently in force by aforesaid orders are hereby withdrawn. However, advisory in respect of health and hygiene protocols including wearing of masks at all times, hand hygiene and sanitisation of public places shall continue to be strictly observed until further order,” it stated.
