SSC case: Calcutta HC orders dismissal of history teacher – Times of India

Kolkata News

Kolkata: Calcutta High Court on Tuesday directed the state to dismiss from a secondary school a history teacher who received two job offers on the recommendations of the West Bengal School Service Commission (SSC) despite scoring lower than the cut-off marks in the 2016 Teacher Eligibility Test.
Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay ordered dismissal of teacher Sheikh Insan Ali after hearing a petition filed by one Shetabuddin and four others against the SSC recommendations. “Is he a blue-eyed boy?” the court observed.
The court further directed that former SSC chairman Soumitra Sarkar and chairman in-charge from January 2019 to January 2020 Ashok Kumar Saha be made parties to the case.
Justice Gangopadhyay held that he would order a CBI investigation into the alleged appointment muddle if the SSC failed to furnish a “satisfactory reply”.
