Kolkata News

KOLKATA/AGARTALA: Kolkata Police has summoned Sanjay Mishra, officer on special duty (OSD) to Tripura CM Biplab Deb, for questioning at Narkeldanga police station on Thursday.
The notice, under Section 41A CrPC, follows a November 3 FIR lodged against Mishra under several penal sections and disaster management laws after he allegedly tweeted a forged screenshot that claimed to be central health ministry data showing Kolkata’s Covid-positivity rate to be above 5%.
The notice was issued on Tuesday, DCP (ESD) Priyabrata Roy said.
Trinamool Congress had on October 30 questioned a Tripura government notification which made negative RT-PCR tests mandatory for people arriving in Tripura from states with above-5% Covid positivity rate, even the fully vaccinated. The notification had named Bengal but Trinamool claimed that no district in Bengal had above-5% positivity rate on that day.
