West Bengal polls: Calcutta HC pulls up EC, expresses ‘disappointment over election campaigns’ – Times Now

In the last 24 hours, more than 10,000 covid cases and 50 death have been registered in the poll-bound state of West Bengal. Whereas still ongoing rallies of political parties can be seen in West Bengal. Calcutta High Court has pulled up the Election Commission expressing ‘gross disappointment over election campaigns midst of a spike in COVID cases’. The chief justice reminds the poll panel about the power it holds and said that the EC did not utilize those powers when it was required. The HC states that EC just issued a circular and passed a buck on people, now the high court is firm on the fact that an order will be passed if the EC fails to act. Watch!
