Kolkata:  The novel coronavirus has brought more grief than anyone could have deemed possible. While we were asked to stay at home in order to be safe from the deadly virus, the healthcare workers put their lives at risk while battling COVID-19 head-on.

The contribution of healthcare workers all around the world during the pandemic has been massive. People have come up with innovative ways to thank them for all they have done for humanity.

In Kolkata, a proposal has been made to set up a museum to commemorate and honor the healthcare workers and their valuable contribution to the fight against coronavirus. This was made by an office-bearer of the West Bengal’s Doctors Forum named Dr. Rajiv Pandey.

The idea was the brainchild of Dr. Arjun Dasgupta.

The aim behind this is to tell the stories of the healthcare workers, especially the ones who lost their lives. Display items will also include PPE kits, masks gloves, sanitizers, ambulances to ferry the patients, as well as how the pandemic changed the world.

“We will document how this pandemic unfolded-how vaccines were invented and the fight of the entire mankind against the pandemic. Also, how different countries tried to fight it out will be depicted,” Dr. Dasgupta told PTI.

With this museum, he believes that this was an unforeseen event that will never be forgotten. Dr. Pandey added, “We have lost around 90 doctors in our state to the pandemic. Like so many other things, this time and these people will be forgotten. Future generations should not be allowed to forget the sacrifices made. That’s the reason we have planned this museum.”

A request has also been made to the government to provide them land at a suitable price for this purpose.
