Kolkata: A teenager died after he allegedly fell from the 24th floor of a multi-storey upscale building in South Kolkata’s Anandapur area on Monday morning. It is not known yet whether he died by suicide or how he fell from the apartment, police said.
The victim, Rudranil Dutta (17), was a resident of the apartment. He was a Grade XII student of a reputed south Kolkata school.
The neighbours were alerted after they heard a huge thud, following which they found Rudranil lying in a huge pool of blood near Tower Number 5 of the apartment. They immediately alerted police, who recovered his body.
The Detective Department of Kolkata Police reached the spot immediately after the incident was reported. The police is investigating if the young boy died by suicide, was under any kind of mental pressure or if there was another reason behind his death.
The police said, “The boy fell from the balcony of his 24th floor apartment. We are investigating if there was any altercation with his parents or if he was under mental pressure.”
The teenager’s body has been sent for post-mortem. Police has started an investigation into the matter.
