KOLKATA: A 69-year-old retired engineer, who was out for Durga Puja shopping in October, fell victim to a shoulder-surfing gang. Members of these gangs stand behind their victims and memorize the transaction details and also steal the cards to use them later.
According to the complaint, the victim, B D Roy, a resident of New Santoshpur, claimed his ATM debit card PIN was noted and his card was replaced with an old and blocked card while he was shopping at a garment store in a reputed market at Dhakuria.
When he realized his card had been replaced on November 14, Rs 6 lakh was already taken out from his account.
